What is NetDay?

NetDay, started in California in 1996, was conceived as a grassroots drive to help bring elementary and secondary schools onto the internet using a combination of public volunteers and private contributions that culminated in a single, focused day of activity called NetDay. NetDay's mission is to connect children to a brighter future by helping the teachers meet the educational goals through the effective use of the Educational Techonology and Information and Communication Technology(ICT).

NetDay allows schools to install network cabling to central points in the respective schools and enable the schools to connect to the internet in an economical manner with the help of students, teachers and management board of respective schools, as well as community members and assistance of volunteers with ICT expertise. This effort was expanded nationwide and internally from 1996. netDay will increase community participation and exchange of information throught the internet.
